Mimosa Networks, a leader in fixed wireless broadband, announces its collaboration with Comsearch to enable Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) services for 6 GHz spectrum use. This partnership unlocks 850 MHz of FCC-certified shared spectrum, enhancing the performance and flexibility of Mimosa’s A6, C6x, and B6x devices. By leveraging Comsearch’s AFC platform, Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) can operate at higher power levels, delivering multi-gigabit connectivity, extended range, and improved throughput for applications like residential broadband, municipal Wi-Fi, and IoT networks. This innovative solution optimizes unlicensed 6 GHz spectrum availability, ensuring faster, more reliable broadband services.
Mimosa Networks, a leading provider of fixed wireless broadband solutions, is pleased to announce its official collaboration with Comsearch for their Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) services. This alliance enables Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) to register their Mimosa unlicensed 6GHz Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint devices with the Comsearch AFC system, unlocking 850 MHz of 6 GHz spectrum for shared, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certified use and enhancing quality of service and network performance.
By maximizing the large amount of available spectrum in the 6 GHz band, this solution allows outdoor unlicensed networks to deliver high-speed broadband access at optimal signal strength. It enables a range of high bandwidth use cases including multi-gigabit connectivity for large venues, IoT connectivity for industrial sites, high-speed municipal Wi-Fi deployments, and fixed wireless access for residential and business networks.
“We are excited to work with Comsearch to bring the benefits of 6 GHz spectrum to our customers,” said Jim Nevelle, SVP and General Manager at Mimosa Networks. “This alliance expands our ability to provide industry-leading fixed wireless solutions, helping our customers deliver faster, more reliable, and more flexible broadband services with a service certified by the FCC.”
The Comsearch AFC service allows Mimosa’s 6 GHz-capable products, such as Mimosa’s A6 Access Point, C6x Client and B6x Backhaul Radios, to operate at higher power levels in certain regulatory environments. Operating at higher power levels potentially provides key advantages for WISPs, including extended range, improved signal strength, enhanced throughput, better performance in challenging conditions, and increased flexibility in network deployment.
“Our near 50-year legacy in spectrum access innovation continues to drive forward the capabilities of the 6 GHz band for unlicensed devices,” stated Mike Guerin, Senior Vice President at Comsearch. “Collaborating with Mimosa Networks allows us to unlock significant new potential for fixed wireless providers, offering a powerful, integrated solution for delivering next-generation broadband services.”
The Comsearch AFC platform optimizes unlicensed 6 GHz spectrum availability for wireless deployments—ensuring industry standards and is certified by the FCC. Leveraging cloud-based efficiency, the AFC service maximizes spectrum availability and improves the return on investment (ROI) for WISPs deploying Mimosa’s advanced wireless broadband solutions.
