3.7 GHz Services (C-Band)

Enabling early access for new licensees

Comsearch provided 3.7 GHz spectrum sharing services during the lower C-Band transition in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Comsearch will again be providing services to evaluate spectrum sharing and early access opportunities following the auction of a portion of the upper C-band (3980–4200 MHz), potentially as early as 2027.

NEW SPECTRUM—NEW CHALLENGES

The lower 3.7 GHz auction winners were granted licenses while incumbent earth stations were still being cleared from the band.  Incumbent earth stations were relocated in two phases ending in December 2021 and December 2023.  Despite this timeline lasting several years, Comsearch was able to offer auction winners options for early entry into the band.  We performed comprehensive spectrum sharing studies including co-channel, adjacent-channel and blocking analyses, which allowed auction winners to launch sites well before the full migration of incumbent earth stations was complete.  In addition to analyzing earth stations, Comsearch also performed necessary studies to avoid interference into existing point-to-point fixed service licensees in the band.

Comsearch can help. In addition to our experience with the lower C-Band, we have an extensive history with facilitating early access to spectrum in the 2.1 GHz AWS-1 and AWS-3 bands as well as the 1.9 GHz PCS band.

Comsearch provides comprehensive solutions. Leveraging this experience and significant investment in customized analysis and data management tools, Comsearch offers an unbeatable combination of specialized services, proprietary software, and highly accurate databases of incumbent earth stations.  Additionally, when combined with our program management abilities, Comsearch provides a comprehensive spectrum sharing solution.
